They dont generate gold and you can use them to create hero parties up to 4 members after upgrading it. They produced gold regularly just like the peasant huts but a little more and heroes loved to hang out at the inns which also generated more gold when they did. M1 inn were a good source of steady income. I think they are a little too strong, and the guards a little too weak.Ħ. The point is, they are strong and I surround my castle with them right away at the start of a game. A tower is cheap and can handle all but the strongest creatures, but also a large number of medium sized creatures can overwhelm a tower without hero help. However, when you upgrade your tower, your tower guard doesnt get stronger, which was a little disappointing to me. Guard towers are nearly invincible in M2 compared to M1. It takes up alot more space than the M1 graveyard though and that can cause problems when trying to organize your settlement.ĥ. You do not have to buy a graveyard, it just appears at a random location by your settlement once you have had a hero die. ![]() Making a graveyard that now produces enemy skeletons on your settlement and you can also pay to resurrect your heros from it. They have combined the graveyard with the mausoleum from M1. the economy design in M2 is rather weak IMO.Ĥ. I think its possible to win, but I havent done so yet. Im constantly having to hire or ressurect new heroes and upgrading everything so they can survive against dragons and elementals. I tried that scenario a number of times now and still havent managed to save up the required gold(35,000) in the time limit. Gold that you need to defend your settlement from the constant onslaught of dragons and elementals from day one. It makes one of the campaign scenarios almost impossible that depends entirely on saving up a set amount of gold in a rather short time. M2 controls the pace of your economic development rather harshly IMO. M1 allowed you to build many marketplaces and use the marketday feature to get more money to help you in the early game. Your marketplace has a set income per level and you can only have 1 marketplace, period. The way M2 is set up, the number of heroes you have doesnt have much impact on your income like it did in M1.ģ. Guilds are limited now to 3 heroes while in M1 you had up to 4. Your progress in the game is entirely limited and artificially paced by your gold income, so it can be a little frustrating in the early game.Ģ. In M2 you are restricted to only a few preset locations for trading posts, but the upgrade for them is a weak turret able to defend from weaker foes. In M1 you could place a trading post anywhere on the map outside a limited radius from your marketplace. The early game is a bit of a struggle financially as your income is severly limited until you are able to get trading posts up and running without losing them. I still think the older version is a little better, as M2 seems to dumb the systems down but only slightly.ġ. However, M1 is very hard to play on modern machines. Let me start by saying I own the original majesty and expansion on disk and have played it for years. Really half the missions have pretty loose objectives and feel pretty sandboxy anyway because you can play it out in a lot of different ways.Well Ive played through most of the campaign and now I think its time to write my review. ![]() I want to say there is but I didn't play it much because the missions tend to be more challenging than AI without major advantages over you. I beat the game a few years ago and was just downloading it again for another playthrough. I honestly cant remember for sure if there is a sandbox mode. They all have different strengths and weaknesses so some that were great in one level might not be so great in the next. If you're having a hard time with a level you just need to try different early combinations of buildings and heroes. Once you get them leveled up and well equipped they can usually complete most tasks with very little risk. ![]() You do also get spells to help you out but I find I use most of my casting power keeping my heroes alive to level up. Let your heroes level up and its pretty easy. Just don't rush the mission any more than you have to. I think that getting past that hurdle can make it feel hard. You influence them by offering rewards for exploring, destroying or killing certain targets so your influence is mostly limited by the gold you can earn through taxes. The thing that may frustrate some people is that you dont have direct control over your heroes. ![]() Only the last few levels are really that hard.
